Permanent Makeup (PMU South Portland eyebrow tattoo microblading  classic eyeliner tattoo permanent makeup lip blushing eyelash extensions ) Is NOT Recommended for the following Individuals:


  • Under 18 years of age
  • Pregnancy or nursing
  • Viral infections or diseases
  • Epilepsy, Lupus, MRSA
  • Organ transplant
  • Jaundice 
  • Pacemaker or major heart problems
  • Uncontrolled high blood pressure
  • Currently taking antibiotics
  • Chemotherapy (doctor's note required if within one year of treatments)
  • Diabetes (clearance letter from doctor required)
  • Botox within 2 weeks
  • Chemical peel facial within 30 days
  • Blood disorders (sickle cell, hemophilia)
  • Taking blood thinners (Coumadin, aspirin, ibuprofen, Advil, niacin, vitamin E, fish oils)
  • Herpes Simplex of the cornea
  • Eye issues related to diabetes
  • Currently taking Accutane (must be off for 1 year)
  • Facial laser treatment within 30 days
  • Glaucoma
  • Graves' disease
  • Mental disorder
  • Blepharitis (transient)
  • Active vertigo
  • Poor general health
  • Allergic to lidocaine, epinephrine, benzyl alcohol, dermacaine, and/or tetracaine
  • History of hypertrophic scarring/keloids
  • Sensitivity/allergy to metals, including jewelry
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Acne, rash, skin irritations, severe rosacea, or psoriasis near the treatment area


Always consult with your physician about other concerns. For those with sensitive skin or allergies, a patch test may be recommended.


Preparing for Your Tattoo Appointment (24-48 Hours Before)


Lip Blushing Alert: If you have a history of Herpes Simplex, call your doctor for a prescription of VALTREX 500mg - a 5-day treatment. Take 2 pills per day, morning and night, starting 2 days before the procedure, on the day of the procedure, and 2 days after.


Avoid the following 24-48 hours before your appointment:


  • Alcohol
  • Aspirin, ibuprofen, niacin
  • Blood-thinning products (garlic, turmeric, fish oils)
  • Glycolic acid/salicylic acid products
  • Caffeine
  • Exercise
  • Retinol
  • Excessive sun exposure/sunburn
  • Facial waxing in the areas receiving tattoo treatment


After Your Tattoo Appointment (2 Weeks)


To ensure proper healing, avoid the following for 2 weeks after your tattoo appointment:


  • Extreme heat, sun exposure, rain, snow
  • Saunas, hot tubs, tanning salons
  • Sweating
  • Any skincare/facial treatments
  • Makeup on the tattooed area


Your skin needs a clean, dry, sterile environment during this time. Follow the provided aftercare instructions and use only the recommended aftercare cream on the tattooed area.


Immediate Relief After Your Procedure


For immediate relief after your tattoo procedure, you may:


  • Use the provided aftercare cream with a clean Q-tip 2-3 times per day, as instructed
  • Apply ice in a baggie wrapped in a paper towel (avoid direct contact with the skin) to soothe, calm, reduce redness, and minimize inflammation.


Remember, avoid extreme heat, sun exposure, rain, snow, saunas, hot tubs, tanning salons, sweating, and any skincare/facial treatments during the healing process.
